PORTSMOUTH—James William Whitehead Sr., 81, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Maryview Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at New Bethel Baptist Church, followed by burial in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.

Mr. Whitehead, a Southampton County native, worked as a shipwright at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1989 as a foreman.
