Southampton County schools provide a good education

To the Editor:

The children in our country are America’s greatest natural resource. Extravagant spending, my foot!

You have no comprehension of what schools are doing. They are consistently being asked to do more, provide more and work harder with less state and federal funding.

It is the administrators’, teachers’ and parents’ goal for our children to be successful and have the opportunity to be the best they can be. Our children need as much instruction, support, understanding and love we as teachers, parents and stakeholders can provide. It is so disgraceful that you are displaying such ignorance.

My children went to Southampton County Schools and are successful young adults today.

I know many children who are successful, contributing members of society today who attended Southampton County Schools.

Where would they be without such an outstanding education? They would most likely be collecting welfare and food stamps. I am proud to have been an employee of the county school division and given my all to the children.

Southampton County has an outstanding superintendent, school board and administrators to lead the teachers and students. Kudos to you employees who work so hard and are dedicated to making a better today and tomorrow for our children!
