Many helped make Gingerbread Gala success

To the Editor:

The Gingerbread Gala, the annual fundraiser for Southampton/Franklin Habitat for Humanity held on Nov. 18, was a success thanks to a lot of community support.

The live auction jump-started the holidays with 17 gingerbread houses. The talented bakers included Southampton High School Culinary Arts II, Franklin Junior Woman’s Club, East Pavilion residents, Dare Johnson of Suffolk and Betsy Fauntleroy of Williamsburg.

Area businesses, groups and individuals donated generously to the event in support of the Habitat housing ministry. The money raised will be used to purchase building materials for the next project.

Also, our appreciation goes out to the managers, volunteers and donors at the ReStore on First Avenue in Franklin and to everyone who participated in the house construction on South High Street this year. Together we’re building a better community.
