Vehicles increased in value

To the Editor:

I agree with Don Bridgers’ letter (“Personal property tax rate questioned,” Nov. 16) questioning the values that are placed on vehicles and that they are in fact appreciating.

I received my statements this year, and both of my trucks gained value? I was told that because my 1993 Chevy truck with 187,000 miles on it was used for business that it retains value.

To me that is outrageous!

Why does it matter what a vehicle is used for; vehicles do not appreciate.

There seems to be confusion in the process somewhere. This is kind of like my real estate assessment being raised $18,100 without the first person from the assessor’s office visiting my property to actually do an assessment. How does that work?

It’s time for us county citizens to start packing that board room and supporting our new board members and showing the county officials that it is time for change.
