Crowder-Bocanegra

Madison Marie Crowder and Kevin Martinez Bocanegra were married at 4 p.m. Aug. 13, 2011, at Virginia Military Institute. Chaplain Park officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Crowder of Newsoms. Her grandparents are Antnette Harrell of Suffolk and the late Robert L. Harrell Sr. and the late Edward T. and Lena Marie Crowder.

The groom is the son of Jose and Cindy Bocanegra of Suffolk. His grandparents are Darrell and Phyllis Graham of Newport News and Cal and Ellyn Hamren of Arizona.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Maid of honor was Amanda Lewis of Mechanicsville, friend of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Jaimie Welsh of Chesapeake, cousin of the bride; Sara Badgett of Mineral, friend of the bride; and Jordan West of Suffolk, cousin of the bride.

Mackenzie West of Suffolk, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

David Bocanegra of Suffolk, brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Cam Hagan of Norfolk, Roland Richardson of Chesapeake and Ryan Nienstedt of Norfolk, all fellow Virginia Military Institute alums.

Ring bearer was Matthew Owens, cousin of the groom.

Ruth West of Suffolk and Alice Welsh of Chesapeake, aunts of the bride, served as mistresses of ceremonies.

The new Mrs. Bocanegra is a 2011 graduate of Longwood University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Her husband is a 2011 graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics. He is also a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

The couple will live at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
