CAPRON-Shirley Pope Barnes, 75, passed away November 4, 2011.
Shirley was a native of Southampton County and a daughter of the late Hinton R. and Vassie Vick Pope. She was a member of the Franklin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a former employee of Franklin Equipment Company. She was predeceased by a brother and sister, McCoy Pope and Katherine Clayton.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of fifty years, Rudy Barnes; a daughter, Sonya K. Smith and her husband, Donald, of Capron; two sons, Dexter Topping of Franklin and Timmy Topping of Capron; four grandchildren, Brandon and Kyle Topping and Trista and Talon Smith; special friends of the family, Glenda Topping and Jean Gunter; all her friends at the Kingdom Hall and her special pet , Bubba.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Lou Henish officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday form 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the Franklin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or the American Lung Association. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
