Second man admits to Lee murder

COURTLAND—A Portsmouth man can expect to serve 13 to 23 years in prison for his role in the Oct. 7, 2010, murder of Darrin Lee, 28.

Ernest W. Jones Jr., 23, on Monday pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and will be sentenced in March.

Jones was among six charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Lee outside his home in Southampton Meadows Mobile Home Park after being abducted from Man Market on South Street in Franklin.

Bruce Boone, 19, of Suffolk also has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Others facing charges are Rasheed Brown, 22, of Franklin, whose trial is set for March; Darrin Robinson, 21, of Suffolk; and Shahon Cumbo, 22, of Franklin. Charges against Dayquan Eley, 19, of Suffolk were dismissed.
