Local man, fugitive both booked on drug charges

FRANKLIN – A Franklin man and a wanted fugitive from Chesapeake were arrested on drug charges Tuesday in the 1300 block of Clay Street.

Demonta Marcelus Brown, also known as “Spider,” 29, of the 1800 block of Spar Street in Chesapeake was arrested and charged with possession of with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana through the joint operation between the United States Marshal’s Service, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Franklin and Portsmouth police departments, according to a statement released by FPD Lt. Tim Whitt.

Brown was wanted on a charge of malicious wounding in Portsmouth and on a burglary charge out of Maryland, Whitt said.

Timmie Darril Denson, 24, of Franklin was also arrested in the operation and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Whitt said police searched the Clay Street residence and quantities of suspected cocaine, heroin and marijuana were found. In addition, police also recovered a loaded pistol and drug paraphernalia, he said.

Both men were taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond, Whitt said. An investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected, he said.
