TA sweeps Fuqua, remains in tie for first

FARMVILLE -The Tidewater Academy volleyball team improved to 13-3 and remained tied for first in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference after a 3-0 sweep of Fuqua School.

The Lady Warriors won with scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-20 to top Fuqua and remain tied with Christchurch School for first with three matches remaining in the regular season.

“This was a big game for us and a big game for Fuqua because we were tied for first with Christchurch and Fuqua was in second,” said Coach Amanda Binford. “The girls did really good and they played really well together. They realize, because of the losses to Christchurch, that every win is important now.”

In the win Cary Beahm had seven kills, three tips and two blocks. Samantha Dunn had three assists, one tip and two blocks. Falon Williams had five aces and two kills. Taylor Pruitt had three kills and thee aces and Tyler Stephenson had five digs and five assists.

TA takes on Kenston Forest Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. Thursday marks the Lady Warriors final home and senior night.
