James L. Griffin, Sr.

FRANKLIN—James Lee Griffin Sr., 92, widower of Janie Bryant Griffin, passed away October 10, 2011.

Born in Southampton County to the late James M. and Nettie Lee Brewer Griffin, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Charlie Griffin.

A member of Sycamore Baptist Church, James was a retired foreman at St. Regis Paper Co. and was co-owner and operator of the Community Market.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Linda G. Woulf and her husband, Bob, of Franklin, and Judy G. Lambdin, of Suffolk; a son, James L. Griffin, Jr. (Annette) of Chester; three sisters-in-law, Irma Howard, Jackie McGhee and Bobbie Babb (Ralph); six grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Woulf, Tripp and Anna Lambdin, Elizabeth and Christopher Colston; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 14, in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Ste. 102, Norfolk, Va., 23502.
