COURTLAND—Jim Thomas Carr, 58, passed away September 27, 2011.

He was born in Norfolk County, Va., a son of the late John G. Carr and Virgie Darden Carr Estes.

Jim was a former employee of Franklin Equipment Company and enjoyed spending time with his family at Blake’s and the Franklin Farmer’s Market.

He is now at peace with his precious son, Thomas Lewis Carr; his great-nephew and “second son,” Josh Babb; a brother, William Holland; and stepfather, Thomas Miller Estes.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Bertha Babb Carr; four sisters, Joyce C. Babb (Lewis) of Courtland, Louise C. Dundlow (Fuzzy) of Suffolk, Elizabeth Britt (Herbert) of Walters and Patsy Arthur of Alexandria; two brothers, John W. “Buzzy” Carr (Virginia) of Courtland and Meredith Holland; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Brandy.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Christopher Reber officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
