HERTFORD, N.C.—Earl Maurice Stiles, 69, of Hertford, N.C., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Chowan Hospital in Edenton, N.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Evans Funerals and Cremations Chapel in Edenton. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

He was retired from the Navy with 20 years of service and served in the Vietnam War.

Mr. Stiles is survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Joyner of Franklin.
