Southampton girls defeat Franklin in three games

FRANKLIN—Southampton High School defeated Franklin during a non-district volleyball match 25-13, 25-16 and 25-16 on Thursday night in Franklin.

For the Lady Indians, leaders were Jenny Story and Madison Cabel with 8 and 5 kills, respectively; Claire Cogsdale and Story, 10 and 8 assists; Candace Earls and Kaylee Edwards with 4 and 3 aces; and Bethany Vann with 2 digs.

For the Lady Broncos, Asya Lee led with 4 kills and 2 blocks.

Southampton is 4-0 and Franklin is 0-4.

“We played hard against a team that was much better than we were, but my girls never gave up and played to the end,” said Franklin Coach Frank Seal. “We’ll be a lot better next year. These girls are learning each and every day. I’m proud of them.”
