PETERSBURG—Franklin’s Grant Scarboro and Jared Latham — last year’s Tri-Rivers District Player of the Year from Sussex — tied for first during Thursday’s match at Dogwood Trace Golf Course in Petersburg.

Scarboro’s 42 on the nine-hole, 36-par course also led the Broncos to two more wins for an 11-0 season record.

“I’m happy for Grant,” said Bronco Coach David Lease. “He works hard and gets out there whenever he can.”

Franklin scored a 193 followed by Sussex with 203 and Windsor 215.

Leading for Windsor was Aaron Ashby, who shot a 43, tying for third with Zack Hopkins of Franklin.

“Aaron stepped in late into our season and has added a good competitor to the mix,” said Duke Coach Broc Smith. “He stumbled a bit early in the round, but was able to push it aside and keep himself in contention to win.”

“The first group played a wonderful match today, in windy conditions, with each golfer within a shot of being the medalist for the match,” Smith added.

Others in the top 10 were Donald Vann, Surry 46; Chelsea Kaleita, Surry 48; Tony Bland, Franklin 48; Sean Dejiacomo, Windsor 51; Cody Reese, Windsor 51; and Tatianna Calhoon, 59.

Windsor will host Tuesday’s match at 3:30 p.m. at Cypress Creek Golf Course in Smithfield.
