To the Editor:

As a homeowner and taxpaying resident in Isle of Wight County, I was very upset to drive past our courthouse complex at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday to see every light in every building lit up like it was a workday.

Isle of Wight County raised our taxes 25 percent due to the International Paper mill closing. Is this what we are paying for?

This is wasteful spending when some struggle just to pay their electric bill.

If there are others out there who feel the same way, we need to take a stand and see what else they’re wasting our hard-earned money on!
