Medical examiner to release football player’s autopsy results today

Autopsy results for a Southampton High School football player who died overnight Friday are expected to be released later today.
Brian Rushing, a starting senior defensive tackle, died overnight after playing in an Indians’ win over Franklin High School Friday night.
An autopsy was being performed this morning and results would be available possibly as early as 3 p.m. today, said Glenn McBride, district administrator for the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Norfolk.
There has been no official word on the cause of death for the 17-year-old.
