FRANKLIN—Joyner’s Bridge and Burdette roads and Thomas Woods Trail, all in Isle of Wight County, and Unity Road in Southampton County were closed due to flooding of the Blackwater River, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The river by late Monday morning is expected to crest at 14.3 feet, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield. Flood stage is 12 feet.

NWS indicated that minor flooding is expected to continue from the Blackwater until Friday morning, which is when it should fall below flood stage. A flood warning remains in effect for the Chowan Basin, including Sebrell and Franklin.
