Edith B. Joyner

FRANKLIN—Edith Brittle Joyner, 86, widow of James Charlie (J.C.) Joyner, passed away September 8, 2011, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Joyner, a native of Conway, N.C., was a daughter of the late Joseph Exum Brittle and Rebecca Temperence Vann Brittle, and was predeceased by a sister, Betty Nance.

She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a devoted farmer’s wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Joyner is survived by her three loving sons, Robert Glenn Joyner and his wife, Vickie, Joseph Charles Joyner and his wife, Sandy, and David Lee Joyner and his wife Chrissy, all of Franklin, Va.; five grandchildren, Amy J. O’Berry (Mike), James Preston (J.P.) Joyner, Joseph Charles (Jay) Joyner Jr., (Erin), David Michael (Deke) Joyner, and Lindsay J. Holloman(Chris); eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Cole O’Berry, Rylan and Christopher Holloman, Dawson Joyner, Connor, Riley and Kaleigh Joyner.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home. A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Sharon E. James, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to either the Franklin Fire and Rescue Squad or the Carrsville Fire and Rescue Squad.
