PETERSBURG—Franklin High School’s golf team rolled to 7-0 after defeating Sussex and Windsor during a Thursday Tri-Rivers District match at Dogwood Trace Golf Course in Petersburg.

“It was the first time we had all four golfers in the 40s,” said Franklin Coach David Lease. “That’s pretty good. We haven’t had any practices because of the rain. I thought all of the golfers played well.

The match was also the first time this season for Windsor to have enough players to qualify as a team.

The Broncos scored a 185 and were followed by Sussex, 191, and Windsor, 223.

Jared Latham of Sussex won the match with a 40 on the nine-hole, par-36 course.

Tevin Sumblin of Franklin shot a 43; Aaron Ashby of Windsor, 44; Tony Bland of Franklin, 45; Tatianna Calhoon of Sussex, 46; Grant Scarboro of Franklin, 48; Dashawn Gay of Sussex, 49; Zack Hopkins of Franklin, 49; Cody Reese of Windsor, 51; and Donald Vann of Surry, 51.

Franklin will host Tuesday’s match with Windsor, Sussex and Surry at Cypress Cove Country Club at 3:30 p.m. It’s the Bronco’s last home match for the season.
