WINDSOR—As of 7 a.m. Thursday, all but 300 of the more than 8,000 Community Electric Cooperative customers who lost power from Hurricane Irene had their electric restored.

Among the remaining outages were 20 in Suffolk, 100 in Isle of Wight and 180 in Southampton County.

“It is hoped to get the outages down to 100 or less by tonight and the remainder by end of day Friday,” said Greg Cook, vice president of administration and finance for Community Electric.
