COURTLAND—More than 1,250 Dominion Power residents were without power Sunday after a bird flew into a switch on a transformer at a substation in the Courtland area.
“The bird interfered with one of our circuits,” said Bonita Harris, manager of media and communication relations for Dominion Power in Norfolk.
Power in the Courtland and Franklin areas was lost shortly after noon and remained out for about 3½ hours, Harris said.
The affected substation was at General Thomas Highway and Delaware Road.
