FRANKLIN—Franklin police on Saturday helped deliver a baby at a home in the 200 block of Madison Street.
Police got a call at 1:35 a.m. from the grandmother, who said her daughter’s “baby was on the way.”
“When officers arrived, the mother was already birthing the child,” said Lt. Tim Whitt. “Officers assisted the mother in staying calm and took delivery of the child wrapping it in towels and clearing its airway and making sure it was breathing.”
Police helped the mother through the rest of the birthing process and stayed with her until rescue personnel arrived. In speaking with the mother, she has a healthy baby girl.
