New shared distance-learning classes available

Have you ever wanted to take a course in university physics, French, German or Japanese?

Paul D. Camp Community College is offering new, shared distance-learning courses through Northern Virginia Community College’s Extended Learning Institute.

Shared Distance Learning Courses

This partnership provides an opportunity to take online courses that offer a broader choice of career and educational content. The shared courses also can help with those last few courses need to complete degree requirements.

Students will register and pay through PDCCC. Additional benefits include online tutoring, career counseling, student success coaches, 24/7 help desk and virtual student social activities.  In addition, there will be a special assistant in the college’s distance learning department to provide support.

Courses offered through Shared Distance Learning for this fall include, ART 105: Art in World Culture, ENG 123: Writing for the World Wide Web, ENG125: Introduction to Literature, ENG 253: Survey of African American Literature I, FST 120: Occupational Safety Health for the Fire Science, GIS 200: Geographical Information Systems I, HIS 127: Women in American History, HIS 281: History of Virginia I, ITN 266: Security Layers, JPN 101: Beginning Japanese I and TRV 100: Introduction to the Travel Industry

PDCCC Online Credit Courses

Regular PDCCC online classes for fall include ACC 110: Introduction to Computerized Accounting, AST 243: Office Administration, BIO 101: General Biology I, BUS 241: Business Law I, CSC 200: Introduction to Computer Science, ECO: Principles of Macroeconomics, ENG 111: English Composition, HIS 101: History of Western Civilization I, ITE 140: Spreadsheet Software, ITN 10-1: Introduction to Network Concepts, ITP 150: Networking Fundamentals, MKT 100: Principles of Marketing, PHI 115: Practical Reasoning, PSY 235: Child Psychology, REL 210: Survey of the New Testament, SPA 101: Beginning Spanish I, and SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology.

It’s not too late to register. Classes begin Aug. 22.

PDCCC Golf Tournament Aug. 29

A reminder that the PDCCC Foundation is hosting its eighth annual Paul D. Camp Community College Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 29, at Cypress Cove Country Club in Franklin.

Benefiting the foundation to raise money for scholarships and staff and faculty needs, the tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with registration and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The $75 cost per person includes greens fees, carts, range balls, drinks and a boxed lunch. The format is four-person, captain’s choice. Singles will be placed on teams. Registration forms and fees are due Friday, Aug. 19.

Available sponsorship packages include:

* Gold—$500 includes four green fees, carts and one hole sign

* Silver—$300 includes one hole sign.

The tournament will feature prizes and gifts, including $250 for a hole-in-one on two specified holes, pro shop certificates, and prizes for closest to pin, longest drive and straightest drive, and three posted flights: $300 for first team in each flight, $200 for second team in each flight and $100 for third team winner in each flight.
