Volunteers sought to care for crepe myrtle trees

To the Editor:

Crepe myrtle trees planted in our medians need our help.

The trees were donated to the Virginia Department of Transportation by the Isle of Wight County Beautification Committee as part of its Plant a Tree for a Child program.

Each tree was planted to honor a child entering kindergarten in our county.

VDOT planted the trees and now does not have the funding to take care of them.

After many calls, they suggested we form a volunteer committee to adopt these trees and care for them.

This letter is to ask for your help in forming a committee. If you would like to help, please call me at 357-5352.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
