SUFFOLK—Mrs. Bertha L. Myrick, 80, of Wilson Street, Franklin, Va., departed this life on July 19, 2011, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va.
She was born September 23, 1930, to Helen Haynes in Franklin, Va., and attended the Franklin Public Schools.
She was reared by Roy and Lillian Wilson.
Bertha was the loving wife of William “Peter Rabbit” Myrick.
After 22 years of service, she retired from Superior Petticoat Corporation in New Jersey.
Bertha was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Bertha is survived by two daughters, Beverly Morgan of Bronx, N.Y., Eloise Myrick (Walter) of Jersey City, N.J.; one son, William A. Myrick Jr. (Theressa) of Franklin, Va.; five grandchildren, Makeba, Tyeshia, Terrence, Saron and Tempestt; four great-grandchildren; one aunt, Lucille Mitchell; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and a dear cousin, William Majette.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Move of God Church, 221 Main St., Franklin, Va., where Apostle Tyrone Hart is pastor; Reverend Roosevelt Harmon Jr. will deliver the message of comfort.
The committal and benediction will be in Oak Grove Church Cemetery.
Viewing for Mrs. Myrick’s remains will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
