Business owner dissatisfied with DFA brochure

To the Editor:
I would like to express my discontent with the Downtown Franklin Association and its careless oversight concerning the recently distributed brochure of downtown retail and food establishments.
First, let me say that I have been unwavering in my support of downtown Franklin. I eat, shop, donate services, bank, do legal and accounting business downtown as well as attend downtown social events whenever possible. I have maintained a vibrant business through the loss of several industries and even a flood, staying up all night filling sandbags to hold back floodwaters from buildings other than my own.
Those who know me know I “walk the walk” when it comes to supporting my town and the businesses that have struggled to stay here in this economically challenged area.
Apparently, those making the decisions at DFA don’t think that my “little” retail business — nearly a half-million just in product sales over the last few years — is enough to make it on their brochure. Or maybe it is because none of them support the local salons enough to even realize the amount of retail and service revenue we provide to downtown Franklin.
Their motto is “Put Your Money Where Your Home Is,” but it is obvious that they only “talk the talk” and their ignorance of how much business the salons bring into downtown Franklin may cause me and others to “walk our walk” somewhere else.
