Towns host Fourth of July events

Fourth of July events scheduled for Monday include:

• Sedley’s July 4th Celebration opens at 9 a.m. with registration for the car show and poker run.

A veterans’ program will be held at 10 a.m. at Sedley Baptist Church.

Barton’s Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. except during the parade, which begins at 11:30 a.m.

Signup for the basketball and corn hole tournaments begins at noon. Disk Jockey Don will begin playing at noon.

The flag raising will be at 12:15 p.m.

The car show begins at 12:30 p.m. in Little Park. The corn hole tournament begins at 1 p.m. and the T-ball tournament starts at 2 p.m.

There will be a pedal tractor pull for youth 4 to 9 years old at 4 p.m. Signup begins at 3:30 p.m.

The Sedley Volunteer Fire Department softball game will begin at 6:15 p.m. The co-ed game follows at 7:15 p.m.

The Rhythm Sensation Cloggers will perform at 7 p.m.

Fireworks will be shot at 9:15 p.m.

• Newsoms Ruritan Club will host a parade at 5 p.m. Line-up begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Newsoms Baptist Church parking lot. The parade will travel through Newsoms to BB&T and back.

Food will be provided at 5:30 p.m. by the Ruritan Club.

Games will be played on the ball field followed by the Old Timer’s softball game. Shiloh Band will entertain.

• Windsor will kick things off at 5:30 p.m. There will be blowup slides and activities for kids at Robertson Park. Winds of Grass will begin playing at 6 p.m. Windsor Woman’s Club and Windsor Ruritans at 7 p.m. will serve free pizza and hot dogs; everyone is asked to bring a dessert to share. Windsor Woman’s Club will host the Second Annual Children’s Fourth of July Parade at 8:15 p.m. on Duke Street. Youth are asked to decorate their bikes and wagons. Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m.
