ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight County will receive national recognition for a program that allows property owners to make voluntary monthly payments on taxes.

The county will receive a 2011 National Association of Counties Achievement Award for what’s known as the Isle Pre-Pay Program, which has been designated as a Best Rural Program by NACo.

This is the second consecutive year and the third time since 2007 that a program in Isle of Wight County has been recognized as one of the best in the nation.

Nationally, 16 Achievement Award submissions were selected as “Best in Category.” These programs demonstrate the most outstanding county model programs submitted to the national awards competition.

In addition to the Achievement Award Certificate, each Best in Category winner will be presented a plaque during a ceremony at the NACo conference on July 17.
