The three-person selection committee also considered Lisa Billups for the Franklin/Hunterdale District seat.

Bradley, who starts her term on July 1, said she was a little surprised because Billups was a good candidate.

Bradley, 54, has been a resident of the county since 1989. Her two children graduated from the school system.

“I have always been an advocate for the schools,” Bradley said. “I have always been involved in the school system and I felt this was the right time (to serve on the board).”

She sees funding as the biggest issue facing the board, although Bradley has not had a chance to look at the budget.

“I would like to keep cuts as far away from the classroom as possible,” she said.

Bradley said the position would be a learning experience.

“I want to go in and learn and see what’s going on,” she said.
