To the Editor:

On late Friday night, May 20, our daughter, Courtney, and her best friend, Alexis, were on their way back to our house when the pickup truck that Alexis was driving was hit in the side by another pickup truck at the intersection of Delaware Road and General Thomas Highway.

The truck Courtney was in spun around in the road, causing her to be ejected.

She slid across the highway and ended up on the side of the road.

Courtney sustained road burns and head trauma, but thankfully she is alive. She was airlifted to the trauma unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

At this time, we would like to thank the fire and rescue departments, police departments, helicopter pilot, the emergency medical technicians and the doctors at the trauma unit for being there and saving our daughter’s life!

We can’t praise you guys enough. God had his hand on everyone that night.

Everyone who helped us that dreadful night, thank you so much. Thank you for all the calls, cards, prayers and visits from everyone.

We are astonished by all the outpouring of love and support. You’ll never know how much this has meant to our family. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

May God bestow blessings on everyone! Your acts will never be forgotten.
