BOYKINS–Lucille Edwards Hood, 87, widow of C. Herbert Hood, Sr., passed away May 28, 2011.

A lifelong resident of Boykins, she was a daughter of the late James Dayton and Bettie Sue Vick Edwards and was predeceased by a brother, Jim Edwards. Mrs. Hood was a member and former day care coordinator of Boykins United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Narricott Industries, Aster Nut Products, and Tommy’s Restaurant. Mrs. Hood enjoyed helping and encouraging others in her work and church environment.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Pat Lynch of Greenbelt, MD, Mary Sue Johnson of Warrenton, NC, and Linda Resendez of Benton, LA; one son, Charles Herbert Hood, Jr. of Boykins; one sister, Bernice E. Jones of Franklin; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Boykins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, and suggests memorials be made to Boykins United Methodist Church, 32167 S.
