Russelle Ricks-Miller

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Mrs. Russelle Ricks-Miller of Sargent Road, Washington, D.C., departed this earthly life and transitioned into eternal rest on May 19, 2011, while a patient in Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She was born July 21, 1952, to Russell and Jessie Stephen Ricks in Franklin, Va.
Russelle was a 1970 graduate of Hayden High School and attended Norfolk State University.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Hall Street.
On July 31, 2010, she retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a telecommunication specialist after 36 years of service.
Russelle was preceded in death by her father; two sisters, Lula Ricks and Ernestine Ricks; and an uncle, Joseph “Tootie” Stephens.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory Miller; one daughter, Ebone R. Ricks; one son, Joshua “Josh” Ricks; her mother, Jessie S. Ricks; one sister, Rosalyn “Rainey” Edmonds (Thomas); nephew Thomas Edmonds Jr.; niece Sherita Parker (Timothy); cousins; and many other relatives.
A service of transition will be held Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 318 Hall St., Franklin, Va., with the pastor, Reverend D.S. Riddick Jr., delivering the message of comfort.
Prior to the service, her remains will rest in church for viewing by 11 a.m. The committal and benediction will be held in Southview Cemetery.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons, Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin, Va.
