BOYKINS—Ronny Griffin stays busy.

In addition to working 60 hours a week as a paramedic for the Capron Volunteer Fire Department and operating fire extinguisher and antique businesses, Griffin has opened a hardware store in downtown Boykins.

“All three of the businesses are on Main Street,” Griffin said. “I believe in downtown Boykins. It’s my home.”

Griffin, the owner of Boykins Antiques and Griffin Assessment, named his latest venture Boykins Supply.

“It’s growing a little bit every week,” he said.

Boykins Supply offers small hardware, fishing bait, garden seeds, plants, livestock feed, pet food and flowers.

Griffin opened the business to give residents another option.

“The town needed a place to get small hardware and supplies without having to drive 20 minutes,” he said.

Boykins Supply also will offer fresh vegetables during the summer. Tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelons, butter beans, cabbage, peas and potatoes will be grown in a garden behind the store.

Boykins Supply has five part-time employees and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Griffin plans to retire from the fire department and work full time at the shop, expanding its hours to six days a week.
