Newsoms – Lena Newsome “Kitty” Lee, 88, widow of Aubrey Wilson Lee, passed away peacefully May 23, 2011 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Newsoms, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Pearl Cook Newsome, and was predeceased by a sister, Virginia N. Womble and a brother, Clarence T. Newsome. Mrs. Lee was a dedicated, hard working U. S. Postal Worker for 44 years, retiring at the age of 82. She was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and was quoted saying that she was “the oldest, continuous member of the church”.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Bobby W. Lee and his wife, Jo Ann of Franklin; three grandsons, Jonathan Lee (Becca), Jason Lee (Rose), and Michael Lee; two great-grandchildren, Wynsten Taylor Lee and Jason O.Lee, Jr. one sister, Susie L. Conwell of Baltimore, MD; and a sister-in-law, Sara Newsome of Hamlet, NC.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home in Franklin with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and at Mrs. Lee’s home following the service.
