A creative way to entertain

May means all kinds of things to do in Western Tidewater, from barbecues and yard sales to fundraisers and more.
At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, something unique is being offered in Boykins: a free outdoor showing of “The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.”
Boykins Main Street Initiative is sponsoring the 2003 Disney film starring Johnny Depp, which will be shown on the side of a building in a vacant lot between Boykins Beans & Ice Cream and the Masonic Lodge. Rumor has it organizers premiered the film a few nights ago to make sure there were no kinks.
It’s sort of like going to the drive-in theater without your car. Organizers ask that you bring chairs and join your neighbors for the movie. Popcorn and soda will be available.
What a cool concept. It should be plenty warm on Saturday evening to watch the film, and the idea of it being outside sounds exciting.
We’re sure people of all ages will show for the movie and it should be fun for all.
So if you’re not doing anything, join the good folks of Boykins. Should be a fun night to remember.
