FRANKLIN—Debra “Pat” Joyner of Ashton Avenue, Franklin, Va., suddenly departed this life for her eternal home on May 5, 2011.

The Franklin native was born Feb. 27, 1962, to Clarence and Mary E. Person Joyner.

She graduated in 1980 from Windsor High School and continued her education at Paul D. Camp Community College.

“Pat,” as she was affectionately called, lived for many years in Alexandria, Va., and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Arlington, Va.

Upon relocating home, she was employed as a cashier with Lowe’s Home Improvement Center.

“Pat” was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by three sisters, Yvonne Joyner and Janice Joyner, both of Franklin, Va., and Laverne Copeland (Roland) of Courtland, Va.; one brother, Clarence Joyner, Jr. (Portia) of Alexandria, Va.; two aunts, Ethel Person of Philadelphia, Pa., and Hattie Holland of Franklin, Va.; two nephews; one niece; cousins; and many other relatives.

A service of transition was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville Highway, Franklin, Va., where Reverend Alfred Brown Sr. is pastor.

The interment was in Southview Cemetery.
