Sumblin qualifies for five track events

CHARLES CITY—Franklin High School’s Reshard Sumblin on Tuesday qualified for five events in the Region A Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 26, at West Point High School.

Sumblin qualified for the long and triple jumps, 100- and 200-meter dashes, and 4 by 100-meter relay during the Tri-Rivers District Track & Field meet in Charles City.

The only triple qualifier was Lawrence Parham for long and triple jumps, and 4- by 400-meter relay.

Double qualifiers were Lavon Evans for shot put and discus, Shaquan Cooke and Josh Walker, both for the 4- by 100- and 4- by 400-meter relays, Javonte’ Blacknall for high jump and 300-meter hurdles, and Travis Brown for 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Other boys who qualified were Justin Everette for shot put, and Justin Grant and Clinton Smith, both for the 4- by 100-meter relay.

The only double qualifier for the girls was Raynesha Blow for the triple jump and 200-meter dash.

Also qualifying for the girls were Ciara Banks for the shot put, Tiana Agree for triple jump, and Kiara Banks and Aerial Darden for 300-meter hurdles.
