Thirty-eight PDCCC nursing students earn pins

Thirty-eight Paul D. Camp Community College students received pins for completing the registered nursing program during a Wednesday ceremony at the Regional Workforce Development Center.

FRANKLIN—Thirty-eight Paul D. Camp Community College students received pins for completing the registered nursing program during a Wednesday ceremony at the Regional Workforce Development Center.

Recipients were Linda Atkins of Capron, Heather Berry of Franklin, Brittany Boyette of Suffolk, Paul Brown of Suffolk, Katherine Canady of Suffolk, Sarah Chaet Lassiter of Suffolk, David Ciucci of Suffolk, Natasha Cowans of Franklin, Selena Everette of Boykins, Crystal Drake of Courtland, Emily Flick of Wakefield, Lauren Gallagher of Sedley, Ashley Gay of Franklin, Lindsay Goodman of Zuni, Leslie Griffin of Windsor, Kaitlin Gudger of Suffolk, Stephanie Hatch of Franklin, Heather Holloman of Newsoms, Trey Hudson of Suffolk, Kristen Ivey of Zuni, Cynthia Johnfinn of Suffolk, Pamela Kiger of Smithfield, Chrystal Lanier of Wakefield, Melissa Lanier of Wakefield, Kisheena Larts of Waverly, Angel Lucas of Emporia, Ginger Nairn of Franklin, Jeff Nicolaides, Mary Pittman of Courtland, Norveashia Saunders of Franklin, Beverly Schramm of Suffolk, Trina Scott of Windsor, Samantha Stepp of Zuni, Debra Turner of Newsoms, Jacqueline Vines of Carrollton, Winnifred Williams of Franklin, Rebecca Woodard of Surry and Emily Wright of Suffolk.

The speaker was Tracy Elkins, a nurse who has taught clinical classes at PDCCC. Elkins works at a clinic in Suffolk, specializing in women’s health.

Wright received the Good Citizen Award from the Pilot Club of Suffolk. Lassiter, Holloman, Pittman, Kiger, Nicolaides, Schramm, Gay and Wright were recognized for their participation in the Nursing Student Association.

Holloman earned the Dr. Candace Rogers Excellence in Leadership Award; Brown and Berry were recognized for clinical excellence; and Atkins and Holloman were honored for the highest academic achievement.

PDCCC President Dr. Paul Wm. Conco was honored by receiving the first pin from Rogers, head of the nursing program.
