Windsor girls beat Surry 8-1

SURRY—Windsor girls’ tennis team defeated Surry High School 8-1 Thursday in a Tri-Rivers District match.
Surry fielded four players thus losing three matches by default. Windsor won all four singles matches. Singles winners were Laura Patrick over Leyuan Zhang 6-3, 6-2; Taylor Ferguson over Tami Elder 6-1, 7-5; Jessica Bryant over Toni Elder 6-2, 6-3; and Jessica Blythe over Genae Tatum 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Bryant and Blythe ousted Elder and Elder 6-4, 6-2; and the Dukes’ duo of LaKendra Batten and Janie Robertson lost to Zhang and Tatum 6-2, 6-4.
