WAKEFIELD—A tornado watch issued today, April 28, for the Western Tidewater region has been extended until 9 p.m.,  said meteorologist James Foster,  with the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Currently the area is experiencing some showers, Foster said.

“There’s some activity moving northward from North Carolina, but it’s nothing severe that we’ve seen,” Foster said. “It’s so far, so good.”

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop.
