To the Editor:

On Saturday, April 16, Sedley Baptist Church held a benefit, Care & Share for Japan, for disaster relief from the recent earthquake and tsunami.

We would like to say thank you to everyone, everywhere, near and far, who supported this event in any way, as we hosted a huge yard sale, wonderful bake sale and fish fry that sold more than 600 tickets catered by Nixon’s Catering of Edenton, N.C.

To those who gave donations of any kind, your kindness and generosity will always be remembered, and please know that your gifts will be blessed and multiplied as they help the disaster relief in Japan.

It was truly amazing to watch the planning and execution of this churchwide effort become reality as we worked together in a single day to raise more than $6,000.

In the midst of threatening weather, and even as the day subsided with a tornado warning, we were blessed beyond measure with countless persons who patronized our events, brought baked goods, made donations and a lot of smiling faces and encouragement.

From some of the youngest to the oldest in our church, we worked together to accomplish our mission, and at day’s end, all were very tired, but felt so very good as well.

We want to again thank everyone who contributed in any way to make the event a success, and hopefully our efforts will demonstrate Christian Caring and Sharing as every penny of this money goes to the people of Japan in this time of disaster.
