Homes were damaged in Isle of Wight County but no injuries reported Saturday night as violent storms moved through Western Tidewater.

Preliminary estimates revealed that 22 houses, most in the Windsor area, were damaged. One home was destroyed.

Officials also said four of the 22 suffered significant damage and put the early estimate at $800,000.

“Some families have been displaced,” said county spokesman Don Robertson around 10 p.m. Saturday. “Emergency crews are out assessing damage. There are no reports of injuries at this time. There are sporadic power outages, and communications are limited as phone lines are also out in some areas of the county.”

Franklin and Southampton County received high wind gusts and heavy rain, but no significant damage or injuries were reported.
