D. Olivia Rose

FRANKLIN–Doris Olivia Rose, ninety seven, formerly of Norfolk and recently of Franklin, passed away on April 16, 2011.
Olivia and her siblings were reared in Carrsville by their parents, John Crawford Rose and Rosa Carson Rose. She is survived by her sister, Helen Rose Howell (William) of Franklin; twelve nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William H. Rose (Beuie V), John C. Rose, and sisters, Sara Rose Wright (DeWitt), Martha Rose Kinney (Edward).
Olivia received a business degree from Blackstone College, followed by an RN degree from Norfolk General Hospital. Olivia, fondly known as “Miss Rose” to her patients, was employed as nurse and office manager by Dr. C. C. Cooley for thirty eight years.
Her love of travel carried her to many different countries and afforded her the opportunity of attending the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth. She was instrumental in the formation of the Caring Center at Central Baptist Church and worked many hours at the center. Olivia also volunteered extensively at Norfolk General Hospital as a Pink Lady, earning a pin for over 7000 hours of service.
Olivia was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church in Norfolk for many years and joined Franklin Baptist Church when she moved back to the area in 2004.
“Auntie” requested that her service and burial be private. The family will be available for visitation at 4 pm, Sunday April 17, 2011 in the Great Room at the Village at Woods Edge, 1401 N.
