FRANKLIN—A developer is seeking to change the zoning of property on North College Drive to permit the construction of apartments.
Franklin Summit is hoping to gain approval from the city’s Planning Commission, and a public hearing on the issue has been set for Thursday, April 28, at 6 p.m., according to Donald Goodwin, community development coordinator.
The company wants the zoning of the property changed from R3 and RO to R1A to allow for the units to be built.
The application lists the number of units at 277 with 270 apartments and seven detached, single-family dwellings. Of the 270 apartments, 108 of them will be classified as elderly units. The plans also call for six condominium conversions.
The land on the application covers 20.47 acres with 13.53 units per acre and an average of 30 percent open space.
