Tidewater defeats SA despite five errors

WAKEFIELD—Tidewater Academy overcame five errors to defeat Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Southampton Academy 5-3 in girls’ softball Thursday.
Lady Warrior Taylor Warner picked up the win and moved to 4-2 on the year. Southampton’s Chelsea Speight was saddled with the loss.
Tidewater Academy’s Rebecca Renney went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Samantha Spain went 1-for-2 with a double and three runs scored.
Southampton Academy’s Whitley Smith went 1-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored. Speight went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Tidewater Academy scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the third and two in the fifth. Southampton scored two runs in the third inning and one in the sixth.
Tidewater Academy improved to 5-2 overall with the victory and 4-1 in conference play.
