Mamie Jenkins Bain

Mamie Jenkins “Jenks” Bain entered into eternal rest on April 6, 2011 at her home at Green Level Farm in Wakefield, Virginia. Born September 13, 1917 to Edward Sanford Jenkins and Maude St. Clair Harris Jenkins of Littleton, NC. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Robert O’Brian Jenkins and Edward Jenkins; her sisters, Virginia Coeburn and Dorothy Riggan; her husband, Fairfield S. Bain and her son, George A. Bain. She is survived be her sons, Dr. Fairfield T. Bain and his wife, Marian of Weatherford, TX and Robert W. Bain and his wife, Anita of Ivor. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Williams and a grandson, George Tucker Bain; a great grandson, Tyler Gaboury; a sister, Edith Osbourne of Richmond, several nieces and nephews and a special friend and neighbor, Anna T. Stephenson.

“Jenks” was a graduate of Littleton High School and received her RN degree from Jersey City Hospital. She worked at Old Lakeview Hospital in Suffolk before becoming a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church and a member of the Pocahontas Bain Sunday School Class. The family would like to thank her daughter in law, Anita and her care provider Steve Turner for their care and devotion to her.

Funeral services will be held at Wakefield United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2010 with Pastor Willie Guill officiating. Burial will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Mrs. Bain. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the Wakefield United Methodist Church General Fund, P.O. Box 87, Wakefield, VA 23888. The family is being served by J.T.
