To the Editor:

I just want to express my gratitude to the people who helped make St. Baldrick’s possible, including persons from your staff.

I have lived in this city since 2005 and couldn’t tell you how proud I was of the support at Fred’s restaurant during St. Baldrick’s. That night only reinforced my trust in the local youth.

This year was quite different than past years. We had a majority of the younger adults participating as “shavees” and in the crowd. If you could have seen the moment when Cameron Agate and Forrest Hart shaved their heads in support of these children … Forrest — in his teens — and Cameron — not even a teenager — took it upon themselves to be a part of this event.

The support from the younger adults in the crowd was amazing. The energy was electric, and I was blown away by their generosity.

All communities have their hardships. This community is still striving to be better and has not lost the vigor of old as some may think. People are still participating in community events and generally trying to make a difference.

Thanks again for a truly successful fundraiser, and next year it will only get better.
