Franklin – Harry McCoy Ellis, 79, passed away March 21, 2011 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Capron, he was a son of the late Jesse and Helen Parker Ellis, and was predeceased by a granddaughter, Hope Williams, and brothers, Melvin, James Leon, Jesse, and James Franklin Ellis. Harry was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a meat cutter at Be-Lo and Mitchell’s Supermarkets. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years, Ellen Kathleen Moore Ellis; three daughters, Lisa Williams (Robert) of Suffolk, Renae Powers (Dennis) of Courtland, Lou Ann Wright (David) of Franklin; three sons, Al Ward (Anne) of Courtland, Johnny Ward (Bettie) of Roanoke, Michael Ward (Crystal) of Suffolk; four brothers, Frank Ellis (Karen) of Florida, Charles Ellis of Mississippi, Ashley Ellis of Suffolk, Thomas Ellis (Ester) of North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren, Alex Williams, Aaron Williams, Meagan Williams, Christina Fowler, Wesley Fowler (Ashley), Dustin Powers (Bella), Michelle Holdren (Bill), J’son Paschall (Shannon), Tara Munoz, Penny Harrell, Joel Ward, Amber Ward, Jonathan Ward, Becky Ward, Matthew Ward, Ashley Stover, nineteen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Friday, March 25, 2011 at Wright funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.wrightfuneralhome.org
