Paul D. Camp Community College was on spring break last week, giving students and faculty a much-needed intermission.

And although spring semester will continue through May 2, registration for the summer semester is under way. Summer classes begin May 16.

Summer Semester Classes

Our summer semester schedule includes transfer courses for students enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, classes for students working toward a two-year degree or certificate at PDCCC and options for personal enrichment or getting ahead in the workforce. The following are just a few examples:

FRANKLIN CAMPUS

Biology 101—General biology I will meet May 16 through June 21 from 6 to 10 p.m. with lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays and lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays; ADJ 133—Ethics and criminal justice will be taught on Wednesdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m.; CST 100—Public Speaking will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 2to 4 p.m.; and ENG 111—Composition I will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 a.m. to noon.

MKT 100—Principles of Marketing will be taught on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., PED 123—Tennis I will be offered at the Franklin YMCA on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and PSY 230—Developmental Psychology will be taught Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

HOBBS SUFFOLK CAMPUS

CSC 200—Introduction to computer science will be taught Mondays from 5 to 6:55 p.m.; ENG 150—Children’s Literature will be offered Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m.; HLT 143—Medical terminology I will be offered Wednesdays from 7 to 10 p.m.; HIS 121—US History I will be taught Mondays and Wednesdays, May 16 through June 12, from 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. and MUS 121—Music Appreciation I will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 to 6 p.m.

PHY 201—General College Physics will meet May 16 through June 21 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with lectures from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. and lab from 7:15 to 10 p.m. and PHY 201—General College Physics II will follow on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 22 through July 2, with the same time schedule.

PAUL D. CAMP CENTER AT SMITHFIELD

BIO 256—General genetics will be taught Mondays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m., CHD 146—Math, science and social studies for children will be offered Mondays from 6 to 10:05 p.m., CST 100— Public speaking will be taught Tuesdays from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., MTH 163-164—Pre-calculus I-II will be taught Mondays and Wednesdays 5 to 9 p.m., PSY 215—Abnormal psychology will be taught Thursdays from 6 to 10:05 p.m. and REL 233—Introduction to Islam will be taught Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 to 7 p.m.

Online Offerings

Summer semester online options include ACC 211-212—Principles of Accounting I-II, BIO 101-102—General Biology I-II, BUS 205—Human Resource Management, ECO 201—Principles of Macroeconomics, ECO 202—Principles of Microeconomics, ENG 111-112—College Composition I-II, GEO 210—Introduction to Cultural Geography, MKT 282—Principles of E-Commerce, MDA 207—Medical Law and Ethics, PHI 115—Practical Reasoning and REL 200—Survey of the Old Testament.

PDCCC Regional Workforce Development Center

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning classes for returning students and the motorcycle rider course will be offered this summer at the Workforce Center in Franklin. The annual Kids College will also be hosted at the center; registration materials will be available by May 2.
