This week is National Agriculture Week.

In recognition, The Tidewater News published a special supplement in Sunday’s edition, in which we profiled five local farm families and their operations. Agriculture has long been a significant component of our community’s social and cultural makeup. Agribusiness is also a vital piece of our economic puzzle.

Today we are pleased to welcome a new addition to our Wednesday paper; each week, we will include a page dedicated solely to agribusiness. We intend for this page to be informative and educational, as well as a place where we feature the stories and accomplishments of those who have dedicated their lives to agriculture.

So while National Agriculture Week comes to a close in a few days, count on The Tidewater News to dedicate a little bit of every week to our friends on the farm. You help make this community go. We will be here on Wednesdays to tell our readers how.
